Emergencies and dental anxiety often travel together; nitrous oxide sedation is available for emergency visits too.
While You Wait to See Us
Over-the-counter pain relief (ibuprofen and/or acetaminophen as directed on the label) can take the edge off. A cold compress on the cheek helps swelling — never a heat pack. Rinse gently with warm salt water. Don't put Aspirin against the gum (it burns tissue), and don't ignore facial swelling: infections in this neighbourhood can escalate quickly.

Do you take emergency patients who aren't existing patients?
Yes — same-day emergency dental treatment is available to both new and existing patients. You don't need a history with us to get help today. Call (613) 491-3300 as early as you can.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe or worsening tooth pain, facial swelling, a knocked-out or badly loosened tooth, a broken tooth with pain or sharp edges, uncontrolled bleeding after an extraction, an abscess or 'pimple' on the gums, and a lost crown or filling causing pain. When in doubt, call — we'll triage over the phone.
What should I do if a tooth gets knocked out?
Act fast — minutes matter. Handle the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse it briefly if dirty, and try to place it back in the socket. If you can't, store it in cold milk or inside the cheek and get to us within 30–60 minutes. For a child's baby tooth, don't re-insert it — just come in.
What if my emergency happens after hours?

An emergency exam with an x-ray is typically a modest fixed cost, and we'll give you clear pricing for any treatment before starting. We bill all insurance plans directly, accept the CDCP, and offer financing for larger treatments — pain relief always comes first.
